Is it time for education to get an overhaul?
I’ve been out of high school for over a decade and still don’t understand why we were taught what we were taught in school. In my personal experience, a person is far from ready to enter the real world at the age of 18. But maybe she could be better prepared for it if she was taught a thing or two about it!
I understand that things like science and math are helpful. But people need real street intelligence and common sense when pushed out of the home and into society. I have never once dissected a frog or pig fetus as an adult. I also never had to use the Pythagorean theorem. But I had to figure out how to be a functional and active member of society when I had no real life experience.
It would be great if schooling changed to better equip children to grow up.
