Katie Price’s mum breaks down in emotional TV clip as she faces terminal illness
Katie Price’s terminally ill mother breaks down in a moving clip from her daughter’s new TV show.
Amy, 63, is moved to tears as she talks about the death and why she passed on a family legacy to her 43-year-old model daughter.
She was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017, an incurable condition where the the lungs scar and breathing becomes painful and increasingly difficult.
Appearing on the All 4 Mucky Mansion show, the mum revealed she is now making a ‘happy room’ in Katie’s big house to give her somewhere to go when she feels sad or uneasy.
Sharing her idea behind the space, she tells the camera, “When you’re not well you look at things in a different way and it would be nice if you could leave things that people remember about you.
“Once it’s done, I want it to be a happy room, a comforting room, whenever she’s not feeling too well, she can come here and it’ll be quiet.
“And she can think. That’s what I think is good for her.”
Its design sees the room covered in floral wallpaper and green walls along with bamboo-style furniture. One object in the room that Amy says has particular sentimental value is a Chinese desk, which has been with her for 50 years.
An emotional Katie reacts well to the unveiling and praises the vibe of the space, before disclosing that she wanted her to design the room as it “could actually potentially be the last thing she does for me”.
She adds: “I hope she doesn’t make it, but when she does eventually I know I have a room she’s done. It’s sentimental, a beautiful room, a happy room to be in. .”
According to the NHS, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis usually affects people over 70 and is rare in people under 50.
Mucky Mansion Episodes 1-3 are available now on All 4.
