Summary of the news:

  • The leading provider of hosting solutions for the gaming industry wanted to increase the speed and flexibility of its global network
  • ADVA’s open FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™ helps meet growing demand by increasing wavelength speeds to 400G
  • Highly flexible 1RU terminal optimizes all optical paths over all distances for the lowest cost per bit

ADVA (FSE: ADV) announced today that i3D.net has deployed its FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™ to enhance the experience of the 50 million online gamers i3D.net serves every day. The technology enables the leading provider of hosting solutions for the gaming industry to meet growing data demand and customer expectations by dramatically increasing the capacity and reducing latency of its global transportation network. ADVA’s highly flexible solution enables i3D.net to leverage previously unused spectrum, optimizing all optical paths and unleashing new value in its existing fiber infrastructure. The TeraFlex ™ terminal will also benefit i3D.net enterprise customers, who will be able to take advantage of low latency video conferencing applications.

“As one of the world’s leading high performance hosting providers, we are constantly striving to provide an unbeatable experience for end users. It means investing in the most advanced technology on the market. With our new infrastructure built on the ADVA FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™, we are removing all bottlenecks by massively increasing the capacity of our network. And, with its ultra-flexible, consistent interfaces with fractional QAM, it ensures maximum data throughput on every link, ”said Edwin Verwoerd, vice president, engineering, i3D.net. “Low latency is our business, and this is precisely what our new solution offers. This allows us to deliver a winning edge to both players and businesses. ”

The i3D.net specific configuration of the ADVA FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™ is capable of transporting up to 400 Gbit / s of data per wavelength and 800 Gbit / s per sled. This open and ultra-flexible 1RU terminal uses software-defined fractional QAM modulation and adaptive baud rate capabilities. In addition to dramatically increasing the capacity of i3D.net’s global infrastructure, the ADVA FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™ ensures the lowest cost per bit for each fiber path. In addition, it offers advanced streaming telemetry. This provides operators with real-time performance data, helping them to ensure the highest levels of availability and quality of service for end users. The new solution also includes other components of ADVA’s FSP 3000 open optical transport solution, including the FSP 3000 QuadFlex ™ optical terminals.

“Our FSP 3000 TeraFlex ™ will be an essential tool for i3D.net. It will be essential to seize new opportunities during the global gaming boom and deliver unprecedented levels of quality to its customers. The innovative terminal offers excellent space and energy efficiency while maximizing fiber usage. With its flexible bandwidth modulation, it ensures optimal performance even on long distance links. That’s why our high performance TeraFlex ™ is ideal for supporting immersive and satisfying gaming, ”commented Hartmut Müller-Leitloff, SVP, Sales, EMEA, ADVA. “It’s great to see another major operator leveraging our TeraFlex ™ technology to unlock additional value in their infrastructure. Spread over six continents, the i3D.net network will now offer even more to its customers.
